2004 to Present :: Julie Nelson Design, Creative Director & Designer
Design and manage projects for clients including Oprah, Levy Innovations, Energy Edge Consulting, Home Depot and Coca Cola. Projects included design strategy, brand strategy, identity, branding, packaging, interactive, photography, retail and invitation design.
2006 to 2014 :: Chicago Portfolio School, Adjunct Design Instructor
Taught classes such as Introduction to design, Typography, Layout & Publications, Branding, Art Direction and Packaging Design. Students work featured on the Dieline, CMYK, Print Magazine and other publications.
2006 to 2014 :: Gravity Tank, Lead Communications Designer
Led design teams for Fortune 100 Companies in Consumer Packaged Goods, Consumer Electronics, Financial Services, Food and Retail. Managed junior and associate designers with their client engagements. Led a team of strategists, researchers and designers for the trends and visualizations domain. Presented to clients, facilitated client workshops and pitched new business for the firm.
2005 :: Tula Communications, Intern & Freelance Designer
Worked along side the design team as an intern to assist in branding and communications for Coca Cola, Hands on Network and Home Depot. After internship was complete, hired on as a contractor for additional client work.
2004 to 2005 :: Chartruese Art Studio, Art Teacher & Studio Manager
Taught studio art classes to students ages 3 to 12 years old, mantained the studio space and helped with studio sales and marketing.
2001 to 2004 :: Art Institute of Atlanta, Assistant Admissions Director
Met and exceeded quarterly, annual enrollment goals, interviewed prospective students, guided students through application to matriculation and served as an advisor for students enrolled in the graphic design and illustration programs.
